Why Good Leadership Matters
Having worked in both toxic and great workplaces throughout my career and seeing this come from leadership, I understood that great leaders and poor leaders do make a huge difference in the workplace culture, to team dynamics.
Having sat in my car outside my toxic organization in my early career days, where leaders were the biggest issue, I was forced to consider if I could take another day going in there or not. I couldn't. I decided to leave without a new job. Yes, it was that bad. I was a star employee (their words) who left because of the leadership and culture.
I knew there must be something better out there, where leadership leads the way positively and works collaboratively with everyone and where a great culture could exist. The same week I left, I was hired for a great company with wonderful leaders, some who also mentored me into larger and ever increasingly important roles including leadership.
My career taught me that workplaces can have strong, collaborative leaders who listen to their teams, and who are supported by their leaders and business owners. You can lower turnover and be more creative when you are happy going in to work every day.
Seeing and knowing a clear difference between these types of leaders and organizations, I knew I had to do something about it through my coaching and consulting.
This is why the Amplifying Leadership division of Twin Life Coaching & Business Services was born and why Great Leadership Matters to me.
